The
vision of the HOUSTON POWER
is to provide opportunities for female scholar athletes who
have a desire to play softball at the collegiate level. We
aspire to become known as a nationally recognized girls fastpitch
softball organization which promotes female athletes, physically
trained and mentally conditioned to enter the collegiate softball
arena as a means of obtaining a college education. With a
current representation of five teams, it is our desire and
goal to create opportunities for younger female athletes. Our
players will be exposed to qualified coaching that will
ultimately achieve a higher skill and a greater knowledge
of the game, allowing them to market themselves to college
coaches.
The
HOUSTON POWER will:
- Teach
young athletes the value of success through the spirit
and performance of a successful organization.
- Build
a highly competitive organization of softball teams whose
players exhibit the effectiveness of " teamwork "
through good attitude, effort, and hustle.
- Provide
a unique, positive atmosphere for advanced student athletes
to develop their skills while building confidence, self-esteem,
and mental toughness.
-
Stress the importance of academic achievement as it relates
to competitive sports and to success in future endeavors
in life.
The Board of Directors and Coaches have
developed a foundation that will potentially enable our players
to be a part of the HOUSTON POWER organization through graduation from high
school.
This stability and consistency combined with the experienced
coaching staff that has been assembled will provide individual
players with the best possible opportunity for a collegiate
softball exposure.
The HOUSTON POWER will be unique in that the Board
of Directors will handle all of the administrative functions
of the organization, leaving the coaches with the sole responsibility
of training the teams and tournament play.
One
aspect of the Organization that is of particular interest
is our College Liaison Program. Our coaches will work closely
with colleges and their coaches to actively market HOUSTON
POWER players that wish to play college softball and have
all or part of their college expenses covered through scholarships.
The program includes detailed work with individual players
and actively assist them with the compilation of their player
profile package and video their junior and senior high school
years. We will guide our players through this process by
working with experts in this field and tailoring our program
to the needs of our individual players. College coaches
will be kept up to date on all players interested in their
respective schools through the Liaison Program and can access
the HOUSTON POWER web site for specific updated statistics and locations
of tournaments where they can observe prospective players.
